School Bus Ontario Executive Director Nancy Daigneault joined host Jeyan Jeganathan and Eastern Ontario resident Kaylie Fanning on TVO’s The Rundown to discuss how changes to student transportation are affecting Ontario families.
The conversation examined how new transportation guidelines have changed school-bus eligibility for some students, as well as the broader relationship between provincial funding, local transportation decisions and operator contracts.
Daigneault emphasized that provincial funding increases do not automatically translate into equivalent increases for school-bus operators, who have had to absorb significant inflationary pressures without corresponding funding from the province
The discussion also highlighted the real impact transportation decisions have on students, parents and communities and the importance of a stable, adequately funded system that families can depend on.
